Six Harmony-Emge School District 175 students were taken to local hospitals with injuries after a crash involving a district school bus Friday afternoon.

The half-dozen students were transported from the scene to local hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to Belleville Police. The driver of the bus also was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, as were the driver of the Ford Explorer and her child.

According to Belleville Fire Department, a school bus and a white Ford Explorer crashed at South 74th Street and Foley Drive in Belleville.

The bus was transporting students who attend Harmony-Emge School District 175 in Belleville.

Harmony-Emge Superintendent Pam Leonard could not be reached for comment.

Preliminary investigation on the scene, along with witness statements, indicate the driver of the Ford Explorer failed to yield while turning left, which led to the crash, according to police.

Belleville Police Sgt. Mark Heffernan said no citations had been issued as of Friday afternoon.
