O’Fallon High marches to victory at VP Parade
O’Fallon’s Marching Panthers captured first place in the Veiled Prophet parade on Saturday.
The O’Fallon Township High School marching band was one of three bands from the metro-east to place in the 2015 Liberty Drum Challenge held during the annual parade in St. Louis.
OTHS was also honored with special awards for outstanding musical performance and outstanding general effect.
Belleville East took third place and Collinsville High School placed fourth. A marching band from Elk River, Minn., placed second.
A total of 13 bands competed before judges along the parade route. The judges were selected from band staffs of several universities.
The winning bands share $10,000 in prize money.
In 2014, O’Fallon also placed first, Belleville East second, Collinsville fourth and Alton fifth.
