Belleville West student apprehended with BB gun on campus
A Belleville West student was found to be in possession of a BB gun on campus Friday, according to Belleville District 201 Superintendent Brian Mentzer.
In a call to parents, Principal Malcolm Hill said administration and security “worked quickly to isolate and apprehend the student without incident.”
The weapon was never displayed or visible, he said, and the student was taken into custody without incident. Administration is continuing to work with staff, local law enforcement and the community to make sure safety is top priority.
Hill finished by saying that all weapons — including toys and look-alikes — “will be treated seriously and students who bring them to our campus will be punished in accordance with our school discipline policies.”
