From elementary to junior high, O’Fallon District 90 schools will see administration changes this fall.

Mara Hamilton, who is currently an assistant principal at Carriel Junior High, will be the next principal of Hinchcliffe Elementary. Mascoutah teacher Michelle Jackson will take the assistant principal position left vacant by Hamilton’s move, the district recently announced.

Students at Fulton Junior High School will also see new leadership next school year. The principal position there is currently vacant. Current principal Alexander J. Herrel is leaving Fulton to pursue a career in higher education, O’Fallon District 90 Superintendent Carrie Hruby said.

Hamilton returns to elementary schoolers

Hamilton’s switch from Carriel Junior High to Hinchcliffe will not be her first time working with younger students. She was once an elementary teacher, a press release from the district says.

She brings her experience in both the classroom and administration, being a board member for Belleville School District 118 and a parent into her new role as Hinchcliffe principal, Hamilton said in the release.

“I am honored to step into the role of principal at Hinchcliffe Elementary,” Hamilton said, praising the school’s academics and culture. “I look forward to working with students, staff, families and the community to build upon this strong foundation, and continue fostering a thriving learning environment.”

Hamilton will succeed Kristie Carroll, who is retiring.

Jackson moves from Mascoutah schools to O’Fallon

According to the Mascoutah School District’s website, Jackson was a middle school science teacher this past school year.

Jackson will be one of two assistant principals at Carriel Junior High. The other assistant principal, Jeff Brokering, will continue in this role, Hruby confirmed.

“District 90 recognized my potential and offered me the chance to step up into a leadership role,” Jackson said in a press release. “That vote of confidence affirmed that this is a place where I can grow as an educator and make a lasting impact. I’m truly honored and thankful to be joining the team at Carriel Junior High.”
