Continued snow brings early dismissals, cancellations to metro-east schools
With the second snow of the season billowing into the metro-east throughout the day Monday, a number of schools cancelled afterschool activities, and some dismissed school early. As of Monday evening, one district announced an e-learning day for Tuesday.
Edwardsville School District 7 students are expected to attend class and do school work virtually in accordance with the district’s e-learning plan on Tuesday. School buildings will be closed, and so will afterschool athletics events and activities, unless students are told otherwise, a district Facebook post explains.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until midnight Monday, the National Weather Service St. Louis’ website states. Although the area may not see as much snow as it did Saturday, below-freezing surface temperatures can help snow accumulate quickly, yielding hazardous travel conditions, the National Weather Service St. Louis said.
Additional snow expected Monday night is what led to District 7’s condition, the post said.
