Severe weather forecast prompts early dismissal at some metro-east schools

With severe storms in the forecast Monday, many metro-east districts are canceling after-school activities and dismissing classes early.

All East St. Louis School District 189 students will be dismissed two hours early. The new schedule is as follows:

  • East St. Louis Senior High and Bush Alternative Center- middle school: 12:30 p.m.
  • Younge School of Excellence, Mason-Clark Middle, Lincoln Middle and Bush Alternative Center- high school: 1 p.m.
  • Vivian Adams Early Childhood Center, Avant Elemetnary, Dunbar Elementary, Officer Elementary, Harper-Wright Elementary: 1:30 p.m.

SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School is also dismissing students early; those who use public transportation will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. and all other students must be picked up by 1 p.m.
