Church honoring students at service; announcing details of scholarship in memory of popular counselor
New Life in Christ Church will honor more than 50 students at its 13th Annual Education Sunday service at 11 a.m. Sunday, as well as a late member who was a counselor at Belleville East.
Among the honorees are seven high school graduates who will receive a share of $21,000 in scholarships from the church. According to New Life, the church has given more than $200,000 in scholarships to metro-east seniors since it started the program in 2003.
The program will also honor Chyriell Drain-Hill, who was to have retired from Belleville East at the end of the school year. She died suddenly in April. New Life has created a scholarship in her honor and details will be provided during the service.
New Life in Christ Church is at 689 Scott-Troy Road in O’Fallon.
