‘I want to kill you’: Taxi driver stabbed 13 times over cost of ride, Missouri cops say

A taxi driver near St. Louis said he is “glad to be alive” after being stabbed 13 times by a passenger, according to police and media reports.

While recovering in his Mercy Hospital South room in St. Louis, Inam “Sunny” Allah told KMOV he was stabbed in his face, hand, shoulder and side near one of his kidneys.

The attack occurred late Tuesday night in Imperial, Missouri, following a disagreement over the cost of the taxi ride, according to KTVI.

The woman’s credit card was declined and she eventually attacked the 48-year-old driver, according to KSDK.

“She told me, ‘I want to kill you,’ right. ‘I want to kill you,’” Allah told the TV station from his hospital bed.

As the United Cab Co. driver got out of the taxi to ask a nearby resident for help, the woman took his vehicle and drove away, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The cab was found about 10 miles away later that night, the newspaper reported.

Allah called the homeowner who helped him “an angel,” KSDK reported.

Police have released photos of the woman but have yet to arrest her, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. KFVS reported the photos of the woman were taken in a grocery store before she got in Allah’s taxi.

The taxi driver told KMOV he usually does not drive his cab at night and was only working so he could cover for another driver.

“I’m feeling that I’m glad to be alive,” he told KMOV.
