Meth suspect stole iPad, footballs and an iconic newspaper from 1963, Indiana cops say

Indiana troopers stopped a car with a fake license plate and found numerous stolen items, including an iconic 1963 newspaper and autographed footballs, police say.

Indiana State Police pulled over a stolen vehicle with a fake temporary license plate Wednesday in Indianapolis, according to a news release.

A search of the car uncovered an unusual assortment of stolen property. Besides meth and a syringe, the troopers found an iPad, 28 credit and debit cards, four cell phones and two autographed footballs, police said. They didn’t indicate who had signed the footballs.

The troopers also found the 1963 newspaper wrapped in plastic.

A picture appears to show that it’s The Dallas Morning News newspaper from when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas and Lyndon Johnson took the oath of office on an airplane.

A copy of the same edition is on sale for $425 on eBay.

Now cops are trying to reunite the possessions with the rightful owners.

The 35-year-old driver of the car was in jail but not formally charged with a crime Thursday night, police said.
