Dump truck driver pushes wrong button and hits overpass with trailer, Indiana cops say

A dump truck driver hit the wrong button while traveling on Interstate 65 in Indiana, tilting up the trailer with an overpass approaching in front of him, police say.

Then the raised trailer smashed into the bridge near Crown Point on Wednesday night, according to a news release.

Indiana State Police say the 31-year-old driver from Chicago “inadvertently activated the dump control” before the crash. The driver stopped the semi shortly after the collision, police said. The trailer was empty, police said.

Photos show the mangled trailer standing upright in the middle of the road in front of the overpass.

No one was injured in the crash.

But the road was shut down for about three hours while crews cleaned up the mess and inspected the bridge.
