‘Iconic’ ranch for sale has secrets everywhere — and a big one when you pull a book

Isolated on 244 acres of pure mountain bliss in Woody Creek, Colorado, stands 2 Mile Ranch, a sophisticated, yet rustic, compound with surprises around every corner.

And it’s listed for a whopping $68 million. When combing through the photos of the estate, it’s easy to see why the price tag is so hefty.

“Located at the upper end of the Woody Creek Valley, the 244-acre ranch is surrounded and protected by pastures and national forest, a time capsule to the open spaces enjoyed by the original western settlers,” the listing on Douglas Elliman says.

“This is a true legacy compound with 7 homes, each with a unique style. The Ranch is centered on 2 miles of private and pristine Woody Creek, which runs the entire length of the ranch, supplying abundant water to the 60 plus acres of irrigated pastures, ponds and water features.”

The ranch is considered “one of the last great ranches left in the Roaring Fork Valley,” a news release says. It’s “an iconic and historic ranch that dates back to the 1880’s,” according to the release.

The property is so mystical and outdoorsy, thereare often surprises when it comes to the wildlife surrounding the property all year.

Of the seven structures, five that stand out the most are:

  • The Estate House

  • Bunk House

  • Craftsman House

  • Cottage House

  • Original 1880s log cabin

One cool aspect of the Cottage House in particular is a secret entrance that leads from the mudroom to the library — but you have to pull the proper book to access it.

The listing is held by Raifie Bass.

Woody Creek is in the Aspen area.
