Snuggly dog with a dislocated hip got help. Now, she’s healing and needs a home
A cuddly dog with a dislocated hip was rescued — and now, she waits for a home.
Olivia is up for adoption as she recovers from her much-needed surgery, according to the Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina.
“She has a delightful little bounce when she’s excited — whether it’s mealtime or just seeing her favorite people,” the Raleigh-area rescue wrote April 14 in a Facebook post. “Olivia’s gentle, loving nature makes her a wonderful companion, and she can’t wait to find a family to adore her as much as she’ll adore them.”
Olivia needs a fresh start after she originally landed at a shelter. She was in rough shape when she was transferred to the rescue.
“She had presented at (the) shelter with (a) left leg injury and thin hair/poor skin attributed to previous flea exposure and malnutrition,” Kim Page, the dog’s foster parent, told McClatchy News in an email. “Her X-rays showed she had a dislocated hip and that she had previously been shot (this injury was healed prior to her being found).”
Page said the roughly 4-year-old pup received “medicated baths” and a prescription injection to stop her skin from itching. She also had hip surgery and now “moves around great.”
Olivia has become known as a “sweet” dog who’s picky when it comes to treats. She’s also a “champion snuggler” with a love for belly rubs and naps.
“She sleeps well in her crate but would much rather snooze next to her favorite humans — preferably on the couch or perched on the backrest near their heads,” rescuers wrote. “When she’s not soaking up affection, Olivia enjoys exploring the backyard, sniffing out every interesting scent.”
Olivia, who hasn’t received interest from potential adopters, was waiting for a new owner as of April 16, according to Page and the rescue’s website. Details about the animal organization’s adoption process can be found at tribeagles.org.
