Police rescue person climbing up Brooklyn Bridge

A person was seen climbing up the cables of the Brooklyn Bridge on Wednesday night, shutting down part of its stretch of road as officials worked to get them down.

Footage from the incident shows a suspect walking up the cables toward one of the towers, which stand over 270 feet tall.

Brooklyn Bridge climber triggers emergency response

Police briefly shut down the Brooklyn-bound lanes on the bridge while officials attempted to get the person off the bridge.

After officers climbed up after them, they had "engaged the distressed individual in dialogue," officials said. They were eventually able to bring them down, later taking the person into custody.

No injuries were reported, according to the NYPD.
