Early voting is underway in Illinois, and metro-east residents looking to make their voice heard ahead of the Tuesday, March 17 primary election have options.

In the March election, Illinois voters will cast their ballots in statewide offices such as U.S. senator, governor, attorney general and secretary of state, as well as local positions like clerks, treasurers, sheriffs, county board members and more.

The state offers same-day voter registration along with early voting, so if you miss the Sunday, March 1 online registration deadline, you’ll need to bring two forms of identification when you go to vote March 17.

Before heading out to vote, you may want to double-check your registration status. If you’re not sure whether you’re registered or if your information is up to date, you can use the state’s online voter registration database to check your status. The site will ask for your first and last name, birth date and ZIP code.

If you check your registration and realize some of the information is out of date, you can update it online.

Here’s what to know about voting early in St. Clair County and how to find a polling place near you.
