Why are you running and why should people vote for you? I want to serve the residents of the 5th Supreme Court District because I believe my judicial experience, reputation, and temperament will provide the best leadership on the court for the people of our area and the entire State of Illinois. We in the 5th District have been blessed to be represented by Justice Lloyd Karmeier, a man I consider my role model. I ask the people of the 5th District to vote for me based on my record of fairness and upholding the Constitution and the rule of law in the cases that have come before me in my almost 13 years on the bench, both as 2nd Circuit Judge and 5th District Appellate Justice.

What would your goals be, if elected? My goal is to serve as a Supreme Court Justice who rules fairly and impartially by interpreting the law and not legislating from the bench. I will always uphold our Constitutional rights. I will also continue my efforts to lead the court in the implementation of the strategic agenda adopted by the Illinois Supreme Court last year. I have been part of the formation and implementation of the strategic agenda while serving on the Illinois Judicial Conference.

What issues are most pressing for your constituency? Fair and impartial justice under the law is always the most pressing issue for those who appear in our courts. The confidence of the public in the decisions of Illinois’ Supreme Court is paramount and must always be maintained.
