Why are you running and why should people vote for you? I want to continue my commitment to public service. I served five terms as Mayor of Edwardsville and have a proven track record in helping people and businesses in the community. My record is one of responsible management of public taxpayer dollars.
What would your goals be, if elected? My goals are very clear. I will make the most efficient use of taxpayer dollars while providing input and advise on policies affecting the source of this dollars, the residents and businesses in my District and all of Madison County.I have always been responsive to the needs and concerns of the people who elected me and at the county level, I will act in the interests of District 17 and all of Madison County.”Smart Growth” development and job creation is one of my priorities and I have a strong track record of encouraging the right growth in the right place for the right reasons. Unfortunately we have seen examples of contentious, ineffective government in Madison County and all levels of government. My goal is to promote civility and transparency in government at all levels.
What issues are most pressing for your constituency? I believe that people in District 17 want a county board member who will keep a lid on property taxes by making the most efficient use the tax dollars for programs and services that people need. In addition, I think that people want to feel safe in their homes and when they are out in the community. I have been and will continue to be a strong advocate for public safety. The men and women of law enforcement, first responders and others that put their lives in danger to protect us every day. We need to ensure that they have the right tools to do their jobs. I also believe that people want responsive government who will listen to their concerns and act to solve their problems and answer their questions.
