Want to know more about candidates in the 2020 election? Check this BND Voter Guide

Election Day is Nov. 3, but you can already cast your ballot since the early voting period is underway in Illinois.

And to help you make your decision, the BND has compiled a Voter Guide that has information about candidates in national, state and local races.

To give you more insight into the congressional, state and local races, a team of BND reporters contacted candidates in competitive races across southwestern Illinois and asked them to fill out a detailed questionnaire. We have published responses from over 50 candidates in over 40 races, including U.S. Senate, Congress, state representatives, county offices and judges.

The candidates were asked to explain their positions on issues such as how to respond to the coronavirus pandemic and how to regulate health care insurance.

Here’s a Q&A about the BND Voter Guide:

Where can I find the Voter Guide?

Go to bnd.com to see the interactive Voter Guide. It will be featured on our website during the election season.

How do I use the Voter Guide?

Enter your full address in the search box and then click on “View my ballot” to see area races and candidates.

Click “See more candidate information” at the bottom of each box to learn more.

Click the “Compare the candidates” blue box to view in-depth responses to our questions. This is content exclusive for subscribers.

Click the box next to each candidate you plan to vote for. When you’re finished, you can click the blue circle icon in the bottom right of the screen to print. You can save the printout to refer to when it’s time to vote.

What if I don’t see a response from a candidate?

We will add responses if other candidates send in their replies. Also, we did not send the questionnaires to candidates who are in uncontested races.

Who can I contact if I have a question about the BND Voter Guide?

Send an email to elections2020@bnd.com.
