People may begin circulating petitions to be candidates in St. Clair, Madison counties

People who want to run for a countywide office or for County Board in Madison or St. Clair counties may begin circulating petitions. Petitions to run must be filed between Nov. 23 and Nov. 30.

Candidates running to be the Democratic or Republican nominee for a position would have to first run in the March 15 primary before running in the November 2016 general election.

In St. Clair County, County Board chairman, state’s attorney, coroner, circuit clerk, auditor, recorder and a board of review position will be up for election.

County Board seats in Districts 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, 26 and 29 also will be up for election.

In Madison County, the auditor, state’s attorney, coroner, County Board chairman, recorder and circuit clerk positions are up for election.

Madison County Board seats up for election in districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29.

People can go to madisonvotes.com to obtain a packet to run in Madison County.

Those interested in running also can go to county clerks’ offices to pick up a petition packet.

The Madison County Clerk’s Office is at 157 N. Main St. in Edwardsville.

The St. Clair County Clerk’s Office is at 10 Public Square in Belleville.
