Will you go out when Illinois businesses reopen Friday? Here’s what some readers say

Southern Illinois businesses can begin reopening Friday after a two-month shutdown during the coronavirus pandemic.

Restaurants and bars can open their outdoor seating. Retail stores, hair salons, tattoo shops and spas can allow customers inside again.

But will you go out? The Belleville News-Democrat wants to hear your plans for Phase 3 of the statewide reopening plan that starts May 29.

Here are some of the comments from the BND’s Facebook page:

  • “Headed to Florida.”
  • “Will continue as I have been getting out when I need to as an essential worker, my life didn’t change other than trying to find toilet paper.”
  • “Not anymore than I have to - only when necessary. Nothing has changed - the virus is still very much out there - cases and deaths still rising.”
  • “Not until my friends in infectious diseases say it’s safe.”
  • “Yes with masks and social distancing!”
  • “Nope. We will sit back and watch while everyone else goes out. I hope I am wrong about a second wave, but I am not willing to risk my kids. shopping, nails and going out to eat isn’t more important.”
  • “There are a few non-essential errands I’ve been putting off. So I might try to take care those, but if I pull into a full parking lot, I’m pulling right back out.”
  • “I’ve already been to Walmart, so I’m not scared of a restaurant.”
  • “I never stopped going out.”
