While no one took home the estimated $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot in Saturday’s draw, a metro-east player was among the eight lucky Illinois winners to score $50,000 or more.

The Powerball jackpot has now reached $1.9 billion, the largest jackpot in world history, according to the Illinois Lottery. Saturday’s winning numbers, which no one matched, were 28, 45, 53, 56, 69 and Powerball 20.

“There has never been a jackpot this big, meaning tonight’s draw is making history as the largest lottery jackpot of all time,” the Nov. 7 Illinois Lottery statement said.

Eight Illinois lottery players won between $50,000 and $100,000 in Saturday’s draw, including a $50,000-winning ticket purchased from a Casey’s in Jerseyville. Here’s where the lucky tickets were sold:

  • $50,000 at Casey’s (908 W. Carpenter St.) in Jerseyville

  • $50,000 at D G Food and Liquor Mart (2027 Ogden Ave.) in Downers Grove

  • Two $50,000-winning tickets at Hucks located at 3300 Broadway St. in Mount Vernon

  • $50,000 at MJ7 Oil Corporation (901 Sheridan Road) in Winthrop Harbor

  • $150,000 from Illinois Lottery website

  • $150,000 at Circle K (3507 Chicago Road) in Steger

  • $150,000 at Express Lane (199 Route 84 N.) in Cordova

Many other Illinois lottery players won prizes, too. “Nearly 400,000” other prizes of at least $4 were won in the Land of Lincoln in Saturday’s drawing, according to the Illinois Lottery.

Retailers that sell winning tickets receive a bonus worth 1% of the prize amount. Individuals who win the lottery in Illinois have one year from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize, and Illinois Lottery officials encourage winners to write their name on the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they claim their prize.

Powerball tickets cost $2, and players can add on a Powerplay for $1. The Powerplay multiplies any non-jackpot winnings.

In Illinois, you can buy lottery tickets online or in person from more than 7,000 retailers across the state. Powerball drawings are held at 9:59 p.m. Central Standard Time Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The estimated cash value of the $1.9 billion jackpot is $929.1 million, according to the Powerball website. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are roughly 1 in 292 million, according to the Florida Lottery.
