Woman killed when truck, car collide in southern Illinois, according to state police

A 55-year-old woman was killed and a man was seriously injured when two vehicles collided Tuesday afternoon on Illinois 130 in Richland County.

Meledy Blumberg of West Liberty was pronounced dead at the scene near Olney by the Richland County coroner, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police. Timothy Johnson, 55, of Dundas, Illinois, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, the release states.

Johnson was traveling north in a truck and Blumberg was traveling south in a van.

The truck crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and collided with the van around 3 p.m., according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation.
