If you’re looking to move to another city in Illinois, or relocate to the state for the first time, a remote-work incentive being offered by one locality might just sweeten the deal.

In addition to cash offerings, cities across the U.S. are advertising benefits such as free utilities, free admission to local attractions and restaurant gift cards to encourage people to move.

The Land of Lincoln has seen population decline in recent years, though the rate is slowing, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The number of Missouri residents increased from 2022 to 2023, but the metro-east and St. Louis City have seen declines between 2010 and 2020, KSDK reported.

If you’re looking for a remote job in Illinois, companies are hiring statewide for positions such as customer support representatives, executive assistants and more.

Here’s what to know about an Illinois city offering relocation incentives through Make My Move, an online marketplace that requires an account, but is free to use for those looking to move.
