The Illinois state government is hiring for more than 40 open positions within 50 miles of Belleville, and jobs are available in a variety of industries.

Unemployment in Illinois held steady at 4.8% in March, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The rate had previously declined slightly from 4.9 to 4.8% in February. March’s statewide unemployment rate is preliminary and may be revised.

The greater St. Louis metropolitan area’s unemployment rate is a bit lower than Illinois’ rate, at 4.1% for March, according to preliminary data from the BLS.

Family & Community Resource Center Administrator

Agency: Department of Human Services

Wage: $9,500 to $10,600 per month

Location: Jerseyville

Minimum qualifications for this position include “knowledge, skill, and mental development” equivalent to four years of college and three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a health or human services organization, according to the listing. Preferred qualifications apply, as well.

Job responsibilities include, the listing says:

  • “Serves as Administrator of a Family & Community Resource Center (FCRC) in the Division of Family & Community Services (FCS), Department of Human Services (DHS).

  • Serves as full-line supervisor.

  • Reviews and evaluates reports of casework activities including error reports, audit findings and quality assurance reviews.

  • Interprets, explains and implements new policies and procedures or changes in existing policies and procedures.

  • Travels to establish and maintain effective public relations with employers and other interested parties in the local area served.”

Job responsibilities include, according to the listing:

  • “Keyboards and prepares a wide variety of complex memos, reports, and correspondence involving medical, technical, and legal terminology and routine forms, travel vouchers, customer forms, form letters, cards, and records.

  • Prepares and maintains complex, highly specialized files or forms, reports, supplies, brochures, and records.

  • Serves as backup receptionist, answers telephone and transfers call, retrieves messages from local office general voice mail box and distributes to staff.

  • Opens, sorts, and distributes incoming mail.

  • Serves as timekeeper for assigned staff, prepares, and maintains time and attendance records and reports.

Wage: $6,005 per month anticipated starting pay; range is $6,005 to $8,678 per month

Location: Centralia

  • “Preferably requires a master’s degree in social work” or a master’s degree in a related human service field, supplemented by one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience related to family preservation, family reunification, adoption, youth development, counseling and advocacy services or a related field; or

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work and one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience related to family preservation, family reunification, adoption, youth development, counseling and advocacy services or a related field; or

  • “Serves as Clinical Nurse Manager for the Locust Civil Unit.

  • Serves as full-line supervisor.

  • Provides recommendations to the DON in the development of policies and procedures.

  • Evaluates patient services by conducting ongoing audits (e.g. performance improvement) of services provided in adherence to established goals and standards.

  • “Distributes Lottery promotional materials to Lottery retailers in Territory 403, which encompasses East St. Louis, Madison, Woodlawn, and Nashville areas.

  • Evaluates performance of licensed retailers to ascertain compliance with Department policies and procedures.

  • Reports all sales activities and plans to supervisor and Private Manager.

  • Provides assistance to retailers regarding installation and upkeep of Lottery equipment and products.

  • Attends staff meetings to keep apprised of new developments and sales promotions.
