Illinois’ statewide unemployment rate was 4.8% for May, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The number has held steady for four consecutive months, and is down slightly from January’s rate of 4.9%.
Open Illinois state government jobs include positions in finance, administration, social work and more. Here’s a roundup of five positions all advertising pay of $88,000 per year or more, including two in the metro-east.
Residential services administrator
Agency: Department of Human Services
Wage: $108,552 to $127,920 per year
Location: Centralia

Minimum qualifications for the position include “knowledge, skill, and mental development” equivalent to the completion of four years of college and four years of progressively responsible administrative experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a health or human services field, the listing says.
The listing also has several preferred qualifications, including a master’s degree in human services or a related field and more.
Job responsibilities include, according to the listing:
Serves as a residential services administrator.
Directs professional staff and nonprofessional unit staff in formulating and implementing programs and habilitation/treatment plans for individuals served.

Coordinates unit programs with other units.
