Man trying to catch his dog on Missouri highway struck and killed, troopers say

A 47-year-old man was trying to catch his dog on a Missouri highway when he was struck and killed by a minivan, state troopers said.

Authorities say he had been walking in the westbound lane of Highway F in Ste. Genevieve County when he was hit by the front of the westbound vehicle.

Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the fatal incident at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, according to the crash report.

A county coroner pronounced the Ste. Genevieve man dead on scene at 7:25 p.m., troopers said. No additional details about his dog was released.

A 67-year-old man was driving the minivan and authorities did not report any injuries for him. The 2010 Kia Sedona had minor damage, according to the report.

Ste. Genevieve is about 60 miles south of St. Louis.
