Here’s the timing for our late February snowfall

You may see “hazardous conditions” on your Wednesday morning commute and that prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for the region.

One to 2 inches of snow is possible in the metro-east with higher amounts in central Illinois.

“The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute on Wednesday,” according to the advisory, which goes from Tuesday evening until noon Wednesday.

“This is going to be a fairly light snow,” said Jon Carney, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

However, the temperatures are expected to drop enough to allow the snow to stick on roads.

“It certainly could affect pavement, that’s why we put out the winter weather advisory,” Carney said.

Carney said the snow is primarily expected to fall between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday in the metro-east but you may also see some after that time frame.

Alton, Belleville, Cahokia and Edwardsville are included in the advisory.

This storm is over the Plains and is moving into the Midwest. It will head to the Ohio Valley on Wednesday.
