MetroLink service update

10 a.m. MetroLink is serving all stations in Missouri and all stations in Illinois, except for the Shiloh-Scott MetroLink Station. Ice on the overhead lines that power MetroLink is preventing trains from traveling between College Station and Shiloh-Scott Station in Illinois.

Shuttles are transporting passengers by bus between the College and Shiloh-Scott MetroLink Stations. Passengers traveling through this area should allow extra time for their commutes.

MetroLink passengers may experience 15 to 30 minute delays.

Rush Hour

The winter storm clouds that dropped ice and snow across the St. Louis and metro-east region have moved on to the northeast, but the fallout on area highway remains.

Illinois Department of Transportation is still asking residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to extend some patience to crews as they continue to work on clearing roads. Wind gusts and temperatures in the teens have made this work a challenge.

“It’s a very powdery snow. It’s moving around. It’s actually blowing. In areas where there’s accumulation on pavement, it’s actually coming off tires and the wind is picking it up and moving it across lanes,” Joe Monroe of IDOT said.

Rush hour traffic was slow early Friday, but is clearing up due to low volume in the metro-east. As of 8:50 a.m., there were still delays in the approach to Poplar Street Bridge on I-55 with traffic slowed to about 20 mph, according to IDOT traffic map.

Northbound I-55 between exit 40B and 291 also have been problematic as has the westbound ramp onto the Martin Luther King Bridge.

The I-64 near the I-70 interchange in East St. Louis, near the approach to the Stan Musial-Veterans Bridge is slowed as well, possibly due to a reported accident at St. Clair Avenue.

I-64 through Fairview Heights, which were congested most of Thursday, are running smoothly. Again, traffic volume is low.

MetroLink

8:45 a.m. MetroLink operation between the Grand and Stadium Stations have resumed on a single track after closure this morning. Bus shuttles are canceled. Bi-State says passengers may experience 15-30 minutes delays until further notice.
