A winter storm brought snow to communities across southwestern Illinois on Thursday. What do roads look like in your town?

Here’s a snapshot of conditions as of 6:30 p.m., according to information reported by plow drivers to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Roads are “mostly covered” with ice or snow in these towns:

  • Belleville, including Illinois 15, Illinois 13, North Belt West, South Belt East and West, Centreville Avenue, Freeburg Avenue, Illinois 159 and Illinois 161.

  • Fairview Heights, including Illinois 159 and Lincoln Trail.

  • Shiloh, including Illinois 158 and Lebanon Avenue.
  • Troy, including U.S. 40 and Illinois 162.

  • Parts of Collinsville, including Illinois 157, Interstate 255, St. Louis Road, Caseyville Road and South Morrison Avenue.
  • Parts of Edwardsville, including Illinois 159 and Illinois 157.

Interstates 64 and 55 in the metro-east were considered “partly covered” in snow or ice. Interstate 270 was partly covered in Glen Carbon but mostly covered in Pontoon Beach.

“Very little of the state is free of snow and ice at this point,” the Illinois Department of Transportation reported at 4:30 p.m. “Take your evening commute extra slow, and stay in tonight if you can. Bitter cold will keep roads extremely slippery.”
