Ameren reports over 4K power outages in St. Clair County
The National Weather Service tornado watch and warnings for the metro-east have been lifted for Saturday night.
The warnings had been in place Saturday evening as a line of severe thunderstorms moved east through the region.
Power outages
Ameren Illinois reports that 4,675 customers in St. Clair County have lost power as of 9:39 p.m. Saturday. There were 408 outages in Monroe County and 176 in Madison County.
MetroLink delays
MetroLink said some delays on the light-rail tracks remained in effect at 9 p.m. Saturday due to power outages:
“MetroLink service has been restored to the Fairview Heights, Memorial Hospital, Swansea, Belleville and College MetroLink Stations. Bus shuttles continue to transport riders between the College and Shiloh-Scott MetroLink Stations. MetroLink passengers may experience 15-30 minute delays until further notice.”
Soccer game
The MLS match between St. Louis City SC and FC Cincinnati in St. Louis was delayed by over two hours because of the storms and was scheduled to begin at 9:49 p.m. Saturday.
Tornado watch expires
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, had issued a tornado watch for the metro-east and St. Louis metro area on Saturday night but it has expired.
The tornado watch was issued at 4:05 p.m.
Sunday is expected to be cooler with a high of 50 after the storms roll through Saturday. The high reached 78 Saturday afternoon.
