How much snow and sleet did we get in the metro-east? Here’s a list
Total amounts of snow and sleet that blasted the metro-east over the weekend were reported to the National Weather Service Monday.
The amounts listed are a combination of snow and sleet since it difficult to differentiate between the two when measuring amounts, according to meteorologist Marshall Pfahler of the National Weather Service’s St. Louis office. He said area residents who are trained spotters send in reports to the weather service.
In looking at the metro-east region, Pfahler said areas south of Belleville had less than 6 inches while areas north of Belleville had 8 inches or more. Forecasts before the storm had noted that heavier snowfall amounts were expected north of Interstate 70.
Here are the latest results from the spotters, in inches:
Wood River: 11
St. Rose: 10.3
O’Fallon: 8
Glen Carbon: 8
Belleville: 7.1
Freeburg: 6.5
Columbia: 6
Nashville: 5
The National Weather Service’s official reporting station for snowfall amounts in St. Louis is at St. Louis Lambert International Airport, which reported 8.5 inches for the weekend storm.
