Will the rain clear up in metro-east in time for Halloween? Here’s the forecast

After a period of moderate to severe drought in the metro-east, the region has finally seen several rainy days recently, with more precipitation expected soon.

The National Weather Service forecasts Belleville has a 100% chance of rain Wednesday, Oct. 29, with temperatures ranging from 41 to 53 degrees Fahrenheit. Thursday is expected to be sunny, with a high of 58 degrees and mostly clear at night, with a low of 40 degrees.

Although Belleville and surrounding areas have seen some rain recently, it hasn’t been enough to fully clear the drought. The U.S. Drought Monitor reports the region is in a moderate drought as of Oct. 21.

To catch up to normal rainfall totals, the metro-east and St. Louis region would need to see a more consistent flow of rainfall every four or five days or so, Jared Maples, meteorologist with the NWS St. Louis office, said in an Oct. 28 interview with the News-Democrat.

But will the rain clear up in time for Halloween trick-or-treating? Here’s what to know.

Halloween night 2025 forecast for Belleville

Halloween falls on Friday this year, and trick-or-treaters hoping for dry conditions are in luck.

As of Tuesday, forecasters expect conditions will be dry Friday, Maples said.

“Temperatures will be what we call seasonably cool, maybe slightly below normal, but will top out right around 60 degrees,” Maples said.

The NWS forecasts Friday night will be partly cloudy in Belleville, with a low around 40 degrees.

“We’ll have some clouds increasing through the afternoon or late evening, but it’s not going to lead to any precipitation,” Maples said.

During prime trick-or-treating hours, around 6 to 9 p.m., temperatures will likely hover around the low- to mid-50s in Belleville.

If you’re planning to head out to a trunk-or-treat or another celebration this weekend, you can expect slightly cooler temperatures with a slight chance of showers Saturday night into Sunday morning.
