Today we honor our mothers, but 24 hours isn’t nearly enough time to acknowledge how they influence and shape our lives.
There are thousands of things they selflessly do: change diapers, prepare meals, help with homework, wipe away tears and patch up skinned knees. Those are the easy tasks. They worry that their children will be liked by their peers, that they will be successful in school and in life, and that they will have both roots and wings.
The job doesn’t end when a child turns 18 or even graduates from college. A mother’s caring and concern continue no matter her child’s age.
Most days we children take our mothers for granted, but today’s the day to make sure they know they are appreciated. A good place to start is with two simple statements: “Thanks” and “I love you.”
