Easter’s ultimate example of responsibility
Today marks the end of Holy Week with the celebration of the Resurrection. Just a week ago, Christians celebrated Palm Sunday, and Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
The days between these two Sunday celebrations commemorate much darker days, and a horrifying glimpse at what we human beings are capable of: Mob action, political rationalization, betrayal and brutal torture.
Many expected a savior who would be a military leader. Many sought retribution, revolution and revenge.
Instead, mankind received the ultimate sacrifice on our collective behalf. A savior who put everyone else ahead of himself. A peaceful cleansing. An inspirational and honest commitment.
The Easter miracle is also the ultimate example of responsibility and leadership.
More than 2,000 years later, leaders, potential leaders and the rest of us fall far short of that example.
Christians believe there will be a second coming, so there is still time for us to do more than just aspire to a worthy life and faith. It’s time to get busy.
Happy Easter.
