Letters to the Editor

If you say anything enough times will it become true?

The sky is falling. The end is near. Chocolate causes cancer. Coffee will make you live longer. The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is failing and will collapse.

Are any of these statements really true? If you say something, anything, enough times, will it become true? No matter how absurd the claim?

Republicans have decried Obamacare incessantly, day after day, year after year. It is their belief that just saying that it will fail will make that true.

Would you buy something if everywhere you went everyone told you not to buy it, that it was defective and would not work? Of course not.

I do not believe that Obamacare is failing. I believe that the partisan Republican establishment used wishful thinking and fake news to undermine the program, thereby forcing it to fail.
