Trump’s behavior has tarnished our image, threatens world stability

The Ego has landed ... on his backside. It is high time that this clownish, but dangerous, polarizing and incompetent conman-child Donald Trump stand down as president.

This chaotic, erratic, bigoted behavior has tarnished our image as a responsible democracy and threatens world stability.

If Robert Mueller doesn’t soon affect Trump’s expulsion, Trump should fess up and resign.

Fred Ehrstein, Belleville

Allow America to stand and make it the United States of America

Our Constitution has been corrupted, no longer the law. Division does not work. The law was made to govern. Barack Obama lost his freedom by his own actions. Those are the fears he acquired for himself.

Remove those that are not law-abiding. That has been done before. Remove those that contradict our government. Obama’s bluff has no authority. The change he brought on our government has been anarchy.

Our laws have been created by the wisdom of our ancestors and hard work. Those are our laws. They made a way for us. Honor their work and sacrifice. Ask for that wisdom; it is free.

Young people and some older, put down your peace pipe and baby bottle, get off your backsides and make a life for yourself. Why be blindsided into a stupor? Earn your way.

Young people tend this country; it furnishes you. Work for your freedom and make your existence worthwhile. Those with the will to work will survive. Let the law work. Keep this country; it provides. Allow America to stand and make it the United States of America.

Betty Storll, Edwardsville

This translates into hope and a better world

Good news since my June letter about the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). (‘Standing up for kids will make a difference in future’ by Willie Dickerson, BND, June 5, 2017) A bipartisan House Resolution was introduced calling for support for quality education through the GPE. Already cosponsored by 17 Members of the House from both parties, it needs to have all the representatives from Illinois as well. Can you ask your representative to cosponsor House Resolution 466 and give every child in our world a chance to go to school? Remember countries where all children are educated have less conflict, lower birth rates, better health, and higher earnings. This translates into hope and a better world!

Willie Dickerson, Snohomish, Washington

Trump condones actions of those who attempted to destroy USA

There are those who resent the removal of Confederate symbols from public places, even though these symbols are hurtful reminders of slavery for black people. OK, so they don’t give a hang about how black people feel, but what about their feelings for our country?

How can any American justify displaying Confederate symbols in public places? Don’t these people realize the aim of Robert E. Lee and other southerners was to destroy the United States as it was founded, and to fly the Confederate flag in place of Old Glory? Has their racism overtaken their patriotism?

Some of them claim these symbols of treason are part of history and should be displayed. In that case, why deny the neo-Nazis the pleasure of having statues of Adolf Hitler and Nazi flags on public display? Aren’t those also part of history?

Are those who vie for Confederate symbols to remain on display the descendants of lazy and trifling slave owners who sat around sipping mint juleps while slave labor built their fortunes? Are the descendants of dirt-poor farmers too poor to own slaves? Are they those who are quick to claim their ancestors weren’t in America during slavery? Or are they simply those with deplorable learning?

Allow me to congratulate your greatnesses for electing a president who made you Trumpkins great again, a president who said these symbols of treason are beautiful, a president who obviously condones the actions of those who attempted to destroy the United States of America.

How do all our stars stay in the same spot?

How do all our stars stay in an exact spot as our Earth revolves around the sun at 66,000 miles per hour?

Leonard Pitts Jr. continues to spew hate

I’m so sorry for you, Leonard.

Would someone please write Leonard Pitts and tell him not one person on Earth has a choice in what color they will be born into? He must be the most unhappy person on Earth. If he would help his brethren in Chicago instead of continuing to write about the whites, the president and anyone he seems to be jealous of, it would be wonderful. I would imagine he is afraid to go to Chicago. I also think of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in the same breath. I have never, I repeat never, heard of either of them telling the young blacks to not sing their derogatory music about women and the police. They must like it or are afraid of them. I am a Caucasian, but I do look up to a lot of his people, like the Tuskegee Airmen, Red Tails and the Buffalo Soldiers, the great singers, football players, soldiers and others, but he makes it very hard to continue thinking that way with his outrageous columns. Recently in the Alton paper there was an article about the blacks fighting the cold in Alaska building bridges with the whites. There are a lot of very good blacks. I have had good friends that are black. That person, Pitts Jr. (no respect intended), needs to get a life and soon. BND, please drop his column; he continues to spew hate! Our nation will never heal with this angry hatred in the papers every day. Shame on you for continuing to carry him.

New addition of TV Week is terrible

Your new addition of the TV Week is absolutely terrible! It is too large, difficult to use and a waste of additional paper. Why did you change?

Stuart Riley, Waterloo

‘You can’t fix stupid’

It seems our local Democrats are more loyal to Mike Madigan and Chicago than to the metro-east. Jay Hoffman is the worst, as is Sen. James Clayborne. The people of St. Clair County who support these clowns are as Jim White of KMOX Radio used to say, “You can’t fix stupid.”

Stewart Lannert, Belleville

You can count on the ‘poorly educated’ to attack Clintons

You can always count on the “poorly educated” to attack Bill and Hillary Clinton when they cannot intelligently defend their birther idiot hero. Also, I have noticed there are a lot of retired military lifers writing to this paper. In honor of military lifers, active and retired, I proudly give all of you my Jim Walters middle finger salute.

Vote Democrat 2018-2020.

Jim Walters, Belleville
