Nicklaus’ previous worst finish?
Today’s question: In 1979 Jack Nicklaus had the worst year of his career, finishing 56th on the money list and failing to win a tournament for the first time in his professional career. What was his previous worst finish on the money list up to that time?
Yesterday’s answer: 1904. It could have been the second series in 1904, but it would never come about. The fans were in anticipation to see the NL Champion Giants who won 106 games, take on the winner of the first World Series, the Boston Americans. It would have pitted pitchers Christy Mathewson, Joe McGinnity, and Dummy Taylor, against the American's Cy Young and Bill Dinneen. Because this never happened, 1903 would be Young's only series appearance.
