The Florence Freedom defeated the Gateway Grizzlies 10-3 on opening night at GCS Ballpark.

Florence started the game with a double and a walk before Jose Brizuela singled home the first run of the season. They added two more runs in the fourth and broke the game open with three runs in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Jordan Kraus (1-0) earned the win for Florence. Vincent Molesky (0-1) took the loss for Gateway.

The Grizzlies will try to bounce back in the second game of a three-game series with the Freedom when they meet again at 7:05 p.m. May 13.
