Metro East Bears beat Rantoul at Senior American Legion State Tournament
Storm Coffman pitched a complete game and Corey Price hit a solo home run and had a pair of RBI to lead the offense as the Metro East Bears defeated Rantoul Post 287 6-4 Wednesday in the opening round of the American Legion State Baseball Tournament in Rantoul.
The Bears (37-8) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning against Rantoul starter Keegan Brooks on RBI from Price, Steven Pattan and Cole Hansel.
The Bears will take on Arlington Heights at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Wabash Park. Arlington Heights lost to Danville 1-0 in the opening game of the tournament earlier Wednesday.
Danville will take on Barrington at 2 p.m. after Barrington defeated Peoria 5-1. Peoria will play Rantoul at 10:30 a.m.
