Metro East Bears knocked into losers bracket
Jordan Patty held the Metro East Bears to just two runs over 6 2/3 innings to lead Midland (Mich.) to a 10-2 win Friday at the American Legion Great Lakes Regional Tournament at Mercy Field in Napoleon, Ohio.
Midland (40-1) scored three runs in the first inning off Bears pitcher Isaac Garrett, then continued to add to its lead throughout as it ended the Bears’ seven-game winning streak.
The Bears (42-9) scored their only runs in the eighth inning on a wild pitch and an RBI single from Corey Price.
The loss moves the Bears into an elimination game against Danville at noon Saturday. Danville defeated Oshkosh (Wis.) 15-11 on Friday to remain alive in the double-elimination tournament.
