McKendree women’s soccer placed first in preseason poll
The McKendree University women’s soccer team has been selected to win the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) regular season championship, the conference announced this Thursday. The preseason conference poll is based off of the voting conducted by the league’s 14 head soccer coaches.
McKendree earned a total of 159 points and six first place votes after winning their second consecutive league title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament last season, ending with an overall record of 15-3-3. Quincy University was chosen to finish second, followed by Bellarmine.
The Bearcats pounce back into regular season action on August 31 at 3 p.m. in a non-conference road match against Kentucky Wesleyan College, and will return to Lebanon for their home opener on September 7 against the University of Alabama in Huntsville in a non-conference match that begins at 2 p.m.
