Top performers in high school sports for Sept. 13

JoJo Skaer, Belleville East, Tennis

Skaer breezed past her opponent from Edwardsville, Annie McGinnis, 6-0,6-0. Her win helped to boost Belleville East to a 7-2 victory over the Tigers.

Briana McMinn, O’Fallon, Golf

McMinn was 1-under-par 53, placing first in the field and helping O’Fallon to take home the team title with 230 points at the Belleville East Invitational at Yorktown Golf Course. Columbia was second with 249 points followed by Belleville West with 253 points.

Zach Linhart, Highland, Soccer

The senior for the Bulldogs lifted the team in the second half with the lone goal scored Thursday night in Highland’s 1-0 conference victory over Mascoutah.

Logan Doerr, Gibault, Soccer

Doerr’s hat trick helped to push the Hawks past Freeburg by a score of 8-4. The senior has scored seven goals this season.

Stephen Hasse, Alton-Marquette, Soccer

Hasse led the way for the Explorers in their 9-0 shutout of Metro-East Lutheran. Hasse scored three of the team’s points bringing his season goal total to 10.

Christian Cox and Brandon Fields, Civic Memorial, Soccer

Cox and Fields each scored three points in the Eagles’ impressive 8-2 win over Roxana. Both players have scored six goals this season.
