Central High School graduate and Texas A&M senior Jena Hemann posted a sixth-place finish Thursday in the women’s heptathlon at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field championships at Heyward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Hemann came into the day in 10th place after Wednesday’s competition, when four of its seven events were held.
On Thursday, Hemann got a big boost when a throw of 156-feet, 11-inches won the javelin and boosted her into fifth place.
In the final event, the 800 meters, Hemann finished in 14th, dropping her back to sixth overall. She finished with 5,913 points. The title went to Kansas State’s Akela Jones, who finished with 6,371.
