Is XFL considering return? Football league reportedly looking to renew dome lease

Could the XFL possibly be returning in the near future? Will Battlehawks fans cry “Kakaw” in the Dome at America’s Center again?

Stay tuned.

According to an article written by Dan Kaplan of The Athletic, XFL founder Vince McMahon is attempting to buy the league out of Deleware Bankruptcy Court.

The Athletic also reported that league president Jeffrey Pollack had been in contact with venues in Seattle and at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis concerning the reinstatement of leases in those cities.

The BattleHawks had the No. 1 and No. 3 largest crowds of the season, while Seattle had the second largest crowd.

In its second go-round and first since 2001, the XFL filed bankruptcy in Delaware in April, half-way through its inaugural season, citing Covid-19 and its economic impact for part of the reason for its filing.

The eight-team league had played five weeks before calling off the remainder of its games. All XFL employees, with the exception of a few league officials, were relieved of their job duties at that time.
