John Harbaugh Named Winner After First Draft With Giants

There is a ton of excitement around the New York Giants franchise right now.

The young QB-RB duo of Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo is exciting, not to mention wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Now, the addition of John Harbaugh as the head coach has fans ready for the future.

And, the 2026 NFL Draft was a home run for the Giants.

It began with them selecting Ohio State Buckeyes pass rusher Arvell Reese, who was discussed as the No. 2 overall pick but slid down a bit. Then, the Giants landed one of the top offensive linemen in the class with Miami Hurricanes star Francis Mauigoa.

To make things even better, the Giants got Tennessee Volunteers cornerback Colton Hood at No. 37, and he was viewed as a potential first-round pick by many.

John Breech of CBS Sports had winners and losers for the NFL Draft, and John Harbaugh made the winners category.

"The Jets and Giants should get together to throw a party at MetLife Stadium this week because, for the first time in forever, both teams crushed it in the draft. We already went over what the Jets accomplished, so let's take a look at what the Giants did. In his first draft with Giants, John Harbaugh took the first step into molding New York into the team he had in Baltimore, and that makes sense, because the Ravens made it to the playoffs in 12 of Harbaugh's 18 seasons with the team," Breech wrote.

The Giants traded away Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals for the 10th pick, so you can say they got Mauigoa straight up for Lawrence.

In total, here is what the Giants' draft haul looks like.

  • Arvell Reese, LB, Ohio State
  • Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami FL
  • Colton Hood, CB, Tennessee
  • Malachi Fields, WR, Notre Dame
  • Bobby Jamison-Travis, DT, Auburn
  • JC Davis, OT, Illinois
  • Jack Kelly, LB, BYU

The Giants moved up to take Fields, giving Dart another big weapon on offense.

When the Giants hired Harbaugh, it was obvious that this front office was ready to do what it takes to win, and this draft is a strong step in the right direction.
