TUESDAY SOCCER: Freeburg holds off Roxana rally; McGivney rolls past Gibault

May 6-FREEBURG - The Roxana girls soccer team spotted Freeburg a three-goal lead at halftime, then rallied to make it close before falling 3-2 Tuesday in a Cahokia Conference game in Freeburg.

Trailling 3-0, the Shells got second-half goals from Gianna Stassi and Karsyn Kamp to climb within 3-2.

The loss dropped Roxana to 6-10 overall and 2-5 in the conference. Freeburg is 8-07-01 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

Roxana will play at Metro-East Lutheran Monday before wrapping up its regular season schedule May 13 at Southwestern.

McGivney 6, Gibault 0 - Father McGivney got three goals from Layla Tobin and rolled past Waterloo Gibault in Glen Carbon.

The Griffins led 4-0 at halftime.

McGFivney is 16-1-2 on the season, while Gibault fell to 8-7-1.

Natalie Beck scored two goals and had an assist, Sofia Rossetto had a gaol and an assist and Hayden Etcheson had two assists. Bristol Ellis and Kelea Gaither each had an assist.

Peyton Ellis and Addison Ronk shared the shutout in goal.
