Eagles' 2026 schedule includes Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, London matchup, and lots of prime-time games

PHILADELPHIA - The Eagles' quest for their third title in franchise history starts with an NFC East rival and a gauntlet of 2025 playoff teams, then features a wild-card rematch in the second-to-last game of the season.

In total, the Eagles are scheduled to play five prime-time games. They have just five 1 p.m. games on the calendar.

For the first time since 2020, the Eagles will open the season against the Washington Commanders (Sunday, Sept. 13), this time at home. Since Nick Sirianni became head coach in 2021, this will be just the second time the Eagles begin the year at Lincoln Financial Field.

The NFL selected an intriguing matchup for the Eagles' season opener. Last year, the Eagles split their series with the Commanders. In a span of three weeks, the Eagles won, 29-18, at home in Week 16 and lost, 24-17, on the road in the season finale. The Eagles clinched the division with the win, becoming the first back-to-back NFC East champion in 21 seasons, but they squandered their shot at the NFC's No. 2 seed in the playoffs with the season-ending loss.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels did not play in either contest while nursing a reaggravated elbow injury, one of multiple ailments he sustained in 2025. Daniels, who played just seven games last season, said in March that he has completely recovered from his injuries.

Following the season opener, the Eagles hit the road for two straight weeks - first to face the Tennessee Titans (Sunday, Sept. 20) for the first time since 2022, followed by a rematch of the 2025 Black Friday game against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football (Sept. 28). Since 2016, the Eagles have won all three of their games at Soldier Field, including the playoffs.

The Bears game marks the beginning of a particularly challenging four-game stretch in the schedule, as each of their opponents in that span made the 2025 playoffs.

The Eagles return home in Week 4 for a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams (Sunday, Oct. 4). Since 2023, the Eagles have won all four of their games against the Rams, including a divisional-round win during their Super Bowl run in 2024. Then, the Eagles head to London for the first time since 2018 to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (Sunday, Oct. 11).

There's no rest after the London game. Following a Week 6 home matchup against the Carolina Panthers (Sunday, Oct. 18), the Eagles will play three consecutive games against divisional opponents - the Dallas Cowboys (Monday, Oct. 26) at home, the Commanders (Sunday, Nov. 1) on the road, and the New York Giants (Sunday, Nov. 8) at home.

This is the first time the Eagles will have faced all three of their NFC East foes before the midway point of the season since 2020.

Following the Week 10 bye, the Eagles will host the Battle of Pennsylvania against the Pittsburgh Steelers (Sunday, Nov. 22). The Eagles have not lost at home to the Steelers since 1965 and boast an 11-0 home record in that span.

The Eagles will play two NFL-branded holiday games this season - a Thanksgiving matchup on the road against the Cowboys (Thursday, Nov. 26) and a Christmas Eve game at home against Reed Blankenship and the Houston Texans (Thursday, Dec. 24). This will be the Eagles' first Thanksgiving contest against the Cowboys since 2014, a game the Birds won, 33-10. The Eagles are 2-0 on Thanksgiving against the Cowboys, including their 27-0 win in 1989.

In the last quarter of the season, the Eagles have another challenging three-game stretch against 2025 playoff teams - at home against the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 15 (Saturday, Dec. 19), the Christmas Eve game against the Texans in Week 16, and on the road against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17.

The first two games in that span are part of three consecutive at home (preceded by Week 14 against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Dec. 13). This is the first time the Eagles have had three straight home games since 2020 (Weeks 6-8).

The Eagles will attempt to avenge their 2025 wild-card loss to the 49ers in their first game at Levi's Stadium since 2020. They end the season with back-to-back road games for the first time since 2014, capped by a trip to take on the Giants in Week 18 (date TBD).

In the preseason, the Eagles will visit the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, Aug. 15 (7 p.m.), the New England Patriots on Saturday, Aug. 22 (7 p.m.), and host the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday, Aug. 28 (8 p.m.).
