T-Town, St. Anthony baseball to meet for regional title; North Clay advances to regional finals

Below are results from postseason baseball games from Wednesday:

St. Anthony 10, Vandalia 0

The St. Anthony Bulldogs defeated the Vandalia Vandals, 10-0, in a regional semifinal of the Class 2A Vandalia Regional.

St. Anthony scored three runs in the first and third innings and four in the fifth. The Bulldogs had 13 hits and recorded one error in the game.

Henry Brent had four hits (two doubles), one RBI and one run scored. Charley Spour had three hits (one double and one home run), four RBI and two runs scored. Blake Verdeyen had two hits (one double), one RBI and one run scored. Rogan Allen had two hits and three RBI. Aiden Lauritzen had one hit (one home run), one RBI and two runs scored. Curtis Tingley had one hit and two runs scored and Alex Mayer and Chase Dorris each had one run scored.

Hayden Bushur started and allowed two hits with two strikeouts over five innings.

St. Anthony will face Teutopolis for the regional championship today at 1 p.m.

Teutopolis 4, Salem 1

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes defeated the Salem Wildcats, 4-1, in a regional semifinal of the Class 2A Vandalia Regional.

T-Town scored one run in the fourth inning and three in the sixth. The Shoes had eight hits and recorded one error in the game.

Austin Borries had two hits (one home run), one RBI and one run scored. Bryce Niebrugge had two hits (one double) and three RBI. Andy Lustig, Davin Worman and Aidan Niemerg each had one hit. Nolan Schumacher had one hit and one run scored and Teagan Pals and Eric Weidner each had one run scored.

Gavin Addis pitched and allowed three hits, one run and one walk to 11 strikeouts over seven innings.

North Clay 13, South Central 0

The North Clay Cardinals defeated the South Central Cougars, 13-0, in a regional semifinal of the Class 1A North Clay Regional.

North Clay scored five runs in the first inning, six in the second and two in the fourth. The Cardinals had 11 hits in the game. South Central had one hit and recorded two errors.

Cayden Craig had two hits (one double), two RBI and two runs scored for North Clay. Ian Jones had two hits (one double) and two RBI. Trenton Ingram had two hits and three RBI. Jack Compton had one hit, one RBI and three runs scored. Carder Walden had one hit, two RBI and one run scored. Cody Zimdars had one hit and two runs scored. Trevan Sidwell had one hit. Cooper Lewis had one hit and one run scored. Ben Czyewski had one RBI and one run scored and Ty Worthey had one run scored.

Jones started for the Cardinals and allowed one walk to two strikeouts over two innings. Sidwell and Zimdars followed. Sidwell allowed two walks to three strikeouts in two innings; Zimdars allowed one hit with one strikeout in one inning.

Eli Hiestand had one hit for the Cougars.

Ryker Dodson started for South Central and allowed two hits, five runs and two walks. Garrett Shumate and Hudson Moore followed. Shumate allowed four hits, six runs (three earned) and three walks in 1 2/3 innings; Moore allowed five hits, two runs and three walks to one strikeout in 2 1/3 innings.

North Clay will face Casey-Westfield for the regional championship today at 11 a.m.

Morrisonville 2, Brownstown-St. Elmo 0

The Brownstown-St. Elmo Bombers fell to the Morrisonville Mohawks, 2-0, in a regional semifinal of the Class 1A Morrisonville Regional.

BSE had three hits and recorded one error in the game.

Logan Lach, Zayden Gillespie and Lucas Powell each had one hit.

Jayce Gillespie started and allowed four hits, two runs and two walks to seven strikeouts over six innings.

"We are forever grateful to our departing seniors: Lucas Powell, Keelan Speagle, Jayden Hughett and Raidon Beccue," said head coach Ryan Beccue in an e-mail to the Daily News.
