37-year-old Wood River man charged after East Alton police chase
EDWARDSVILLE - A 37-year-old Wood River man was charged May 29 with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, a Class 4 felony; and driving with no license/permit, a Class B misdemeanor.
The East Alton Police Department presented the case.
According to court documents, on May 28, the suspect allegedly fled from an East Alton police officer, disobeying two or more traffic control devices, and was driving a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country on Wood River Avenue in East Alton without a valid driver's license.
The suspect was ordered remanded to jail.
According to a petition to deny pre-trial release filed by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office, an East Alton police officer observed the suspect's vehicle commit several traffic violations.
The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, and the suspect fled, going through two stop signs and a red light, reaching speeds of 75 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone.
The East Alton police officer was involved in a traffic accident, and Alton police officers and Madison County sheriff's deputies took up the chase.
The suspect fled into Alton and abandoned the vehicle, then attempted to hide in the woods.
Officers were also informed the suspect had attempted to contact his mother to pick him up "to avoid arrest."
It was noted the suspect was out on bail for a 2023 methamphetamine-related felony charge, and a petition to revoke bail has been filed in that case. He was also on pre-trial release for unlawful possession of a controlled substance in a 2024 case, and a pending charge for aggravated battery in a 2026 case, and an active warrant has been issued in that case.
Dorsey man charged in Alton Farm and Home theft
A Dorsey man was charged last week with retail theft after allegedly taking items ranging from knives to light bulbs from the Alton Farm and Home.
The 30-year-old suspect was charged May 28 with retail theft over $300, a Class 3 felony.
The Alton Police Department presented the case.
According to court documents, on May 9, the suspect allegedly took multiple items from Farm and Home at 2600 Homer Adams Parkway in Alton.
He was ordered released from custody.
East St. Louis woman faces weapons, resisting charges out of Glen Carbon
A 41-year-old East St. Louis woman was charged May 28 with aggravated unlawful possession of weapons, a Class 4 felony; and resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor.
The Glen Carbon Police Department presented the case.
According to court documents, on May 12, the suspect was allegedly found to be in possession of a Smith & Wesson SD9 9mm handgun loaded and accessible in a vehicle, without a valid concealed carry permit; and resisted a Glen Carbon police officer's efforts to detain her.
She was ordered released from custody.
These individuals have only been charged and remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All charges may not be reported.
