Jerseyville man charged with threatening police official

JERSEYVILLE - A 63-year-old Jerseyville man is charged with threatening a police official.

The Jersey County Sheriff's Department presented the Class 3 felony charge May 27 alleging the defendant knowingly conveyed a communication containing a threat to a police officer on May 26 in Jersey County with the words "you are dead," and that the threat was made because of the defendant's hostility to the officer.

The defendant's next appearance in Jersey County Circuit Court is scheduled for June 22.

Jerseyville man faces child battery, domestic charges

A 37-year-old Jerseyville man faces a charge of aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13.

The Jersey County Sheriff's Department presented the Class 3 felony charge June 2, alleging the defendant knowingly caused bodily harm to a child younger than 13 years old on or about June 1 by striking the victim on the head.

The defendant also was charged with two Class A misdemeanor counts of domestic battery/bodily harm for striking a victim or victims in the head and arm on the same day.

The defendant is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 29 in Jersey County Circuit Court.

Woman faces aggravated DUI charge

A 46-year-old Pittsfield woman is charged with aggravated driving a vehicle while under the influence after a traffic crash that injured someone.

The Jersey County Sheriff's Department presented the Super Class 4 Modified felony charge June 4, alleging the defendant was under the influence while driving May 20 on Illinois Route 267, which was the proximate cause of a motor vehicle accident that caused personal injury to another person.

The defendant also is charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed.

Her first appearance in Jersey County Circuit Court is scheduled for June 23.

Collinsville woman faces retail theft count

A 23-year-old Collinsville woman is charged with retail theft from the Jerseyville Walmart Supercenter.

The Jersey County Sheriff's Department presented the Class 3 felony case June 1 alleging the defendant knowingly took possession of merchandise with a total value of more than $300 from the Walmart, 1316 S. State St., in Jerseyville, on May 18.

The defendant is scheduled for her first appearance in Jersey County Circuit Court on June 16.

These individuals have only been charged and remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All charges may not be reported.
