Spurs Adding Veteran Free Agent Following NBA Finals Run
The San Antonio Spurs are adding veteran forward Tobias Harris on a two-year, $31 million deal, according to a report from ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania on Wednesday.
Harris helped the Detroit Pistons secure the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference this past season before they ultimately fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2026 playoffs. The 33-year-old veteran played some of his best basketball in the postseason, averaging 18.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
Now, Harris joins a young Spurs squad that just played its way to the NBA Finals. He’ll serve as a solid veteran presence for a team that squandered double-digit leads in each of its four championship series losses to the New York Knicks.

The Spurs have a strong backcourt with rising superstars Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper, as well as veteran point guard De’Aaron Fox. Harris strengthens the forward depth chart featuring Devin Vassell, Julian Champagnie, Carter Bryant, Harrison Barnes and reigning Sixth Man of the Year Keldon Johnson. San Antonio also added Jayden Quaintance and Tarris Reed Jr. through the draft.
Harris has a wealth of NBA experience, notching stints with the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers and Pistons. He’s now heading into his 16th NBA season as a member of the San Antonio franchise.

The Spurs, led by unanimous Defensive Player of the Year Victor Wembanyama, were already primed for another title-contending season. However, this addition of Harris puts them in ever better position to make another deep run.
